Daniel Gabriel Fahrenheit developed this scale in 1724, setting 0 as the temperature of a brine solution and 96 as human body temperature (later refined to 98.6).
In everyday use the fahrenheit appears in weather forecasts, cooking, and HVAC systems in the United States. As a point of reference: a comfortable room temperature is about 72 degrees Fahrenheit.
