About the kelvin
Lord Kelvin (William Thomson) proposed this absolute temperature scale in 1848. Zero Kelvin (absolute zero) is the lowest theoretically possible temperature.
In everyday use the kelvin appears in physics, chemistry, color temperature of light, and cryogenics. As a point of reference: the surface of the Sun is about 5,778 Kelvin.
