Sizes
Shoe, clothing and ring size charts
Sizes are labels, not units: no standard ties a US 9 to an EU 42, and two brands can differ by a full size. Each chart below is copied from a named source, a brand's published chart or a standard, linked at the bottom of the page, and anchored on the one thing you can measure at home: the length of the foot, the body circumference or the ring circumference in centimeters or millimeters.
Why sizes do not convert exactly
Shoe scales measure the last, not the foot, and each brand maps them differently: for the same US women's 8, Nike prints EU 39 and adidas EU 40. Clothing scales were set by each country's industry decades ago and have drifted since. That is why the shoe charts here show Nike and adidas side by side instead of an average, and why the only reliable method is a tape measure and the chart of the brand you are buying. Ring sizes are the exception: ISO 8653 and the US scale are defined in millimeters, so they convert exactly.
