Women's shoe sizes: US, UK, EU and cm, Nike and adidas compared
A US women’s 8 is a UK 5.5 and an EU 39 at Nike, but a UK 6.5 and an EU 40 at adidas: a full size apart in both scales, for feet of the same length (24.6 cm). The gap comes from how each brand maps women’s sizes onto its unisex last. Nike counts a women’s size as the men’s size plus 1.5, adidas as the men’s size plus 1, and each then reads UK and EU from its men’s scale.

How to measure
Trace the foot on paper while standing, measure heel to longest toe in centimeters, and use the larger of the two feet. Compare that length with the foot column of the brand you are buying. Narrow styles and heels often need a half size up, which no conversion table can tell you.
The table is a conversion between labels, not a measurement standard: brands differ by up to a full size. When a garment or shoe matters, use the centimeter column and the brand’s own chart. Centimeters to inches, if needed: cm to inches.

Nike columns are copied from Nike’s women’s chart, with its inch foot lengths × 2.54. adidas publishes one chart for men and women, with women’s sizes one above men’s; the adidas columns are read from that chart at the matching men’s size. Nike’s women’s chart gives foot lengths about half a centimeter longer than its own men’s chart for the same unisex shoe (women’s 8 = men’s 6.5: 24.6 cm against 24.1 cm). We publish each chart as Nike does and do not reconcile them.
